About Tixya

Last updated: July 28, 2026

Hi, I'm the founder of Tixya. I started this project in early 2025 after a frustrating experience exchanging money before a trip to Southeast Asia. My bank quoted me a rate that looked fine on their app, but when I actually received the local currency, I realized I'd lost nearly 3% to hidden spreads. That got me wondering: how many other people are quietly overpaying on currency conversion without even knowing it?

Why Tixya Exists

Most currency tools online are cluttered with ads, require sign-ups, or obscure the actual rate behind layers of fees. I wanted something simple: a clean, fast tool that shows you the real mid-market rate, no strings attached. When I couldn't find one that met all three criteria, I decided to build it myself.

Tixya is designed for travelers who want to know what their money is really worth, freelancers who get paid in multiple currencies, students researching exchange rates, developers who need reliable currency data, and anyone who's ever wondered if their bank is giving them a fair deal.

What We Offer

Our Approach to Data

All exchange rates on Tixya come from the Frankfurter API, which sources data from the European Central Bank. These are mid-market reference rates — the midpoint between buy and sell prices on the global forex market. They are the same rates used by Google Finance, XE.com, and Bloomberg.

We want to be transparent: these rates are what banks trade at, not what you'll get at a retail counter. The actual rate you receive will include a spread (markup) from your bank or transfer service. We show you the benchmark so you can evaluate any offer you receive.

Privacy and Independence

Tixya is an independent project. We don't sell your data, we don't require accounts, and we don't track your conversions. Your inputs are processed entirely in your browser. We may display ads through Google AdSense in the future, which may use cookies as described in our Privacy Policy.

We're not affiliated with any bank, broker, or money transfer service. The tools are provided as-is for informational and educational purposes.
